Panoramic photography technology keeps getting more impressive. Last month, photographer Gerald Donovan carried a Canon EOS 7D and GigaPan robotic camera mount to the top of a Dubai skyscraper to shoot an amazing 45-gigapixel panorama of the city. GigaPan, in a press release, claims the shot is the world’s largest photo and would fill 1200 billboards if printed.
You can view the interactive panoramic photo here and see a video below of the camera rig in action. The panorama was stitched together from 4,250 individual JPG images.
“This was only ever intended to be a technical test,” writes Donovan. “I’m making no claims with regards photographic quality or artistic merit!” You can see the quality with your own eyes when you zoom in on the snapshots taken from pieces the image on the GigaPan site.
