Did you know that carousels have their own day? Apparently, the holiday – which is celebrated on July 25th in the US – was created in honor of the merry-go-round’s official inventor, William Schneider. Schneider patented the first carousel in 1871. There are approximately two hundred original wooden carousels still remaining of the thousands that were conceived during that time.
